Derek Palmer is a Trance producer from the US. He started producing Trance tracks in the early 2000's and has covered a vast genre scale including; Goa, Techno, House, Dance and many different sub-genres of Trance music. In 2007 he produced his first CD in which he sold locally and followed it up with a remix CD in early 2008.
2008 also saw a new musical vision for Derek. He released a CD in 2008 titled “For The People”, in which he gave his fans the chance to be a part of his musical journey. They picked the styles and names of the tracks and Derek did his best efforts to produce tracks true to the name and style that the fans had chose.
2009 saw a brand new change from Derek's previous tracks. He now focuses on producing “Uplifting/Melodic Trance” tracks. He also launched his website and website store during this time, having good success with both. In late 2009 he also won a remix contest for his track “Yakoozai – Horizon (Derek Palmer Remix)”. 2009 also was shown his vast skill improvement from earlier tracks, spending more time focused on small elements to help the overall whole of his track (from mixing and arranging to mastering and processing).
As well as improving his skill and learning new techniques, he has also teamed up with two other artists; QP-990 and The Daunting (aka: Sophia).
QP-990 and Derek started a collaboration group titled Static Breeze. Bring in many different styles and elements into a new unique sound from the both of them. Mixing Trance, Melodic Trance, Uplifting Trance and Progressive Trance into one, smooth flowing piece of music. Their first single “Further (Original Mix)” received good reviews and they are hard at work on a second project and a remix of well known producer Sean Tyas.
The other collaboration project has another artist who does exceptionally well in their field of music. Derek and The Daunting, also known as Sophia, began discussing ideas on a collaboration that they could make. Only deciding to do one project at the time. They produced a track called “In This Land (Original Mix)” and it was a major success, receiving great reviews and even more feedback from record label PR's and staff members, as well as the overall music community of Acidplanet.com and many other various sites. Due to the success of this project, the two have decided to remain collaboration partners and produce as many tracks as they possibly can, bringing a unique style to the Uplifting Trance genre and with great backing vocals from Sophia.
The DP Studios website was also launched in early 2009 (www.dp-studios.org) which serves as the main spot to find out about Derek's new projects. During this time, he also started a podcast show (much like those of Armin Van Burren, Above & Beyond, Sean Tyas and many more). This show mainly features up and coming artists and well known artists. Each show consists of Uplifting/Melodic Trance and the runtime of each show is about one hour.
As of January 2010, there are many things happening. Original tracks, collaborations, remixes and also a website re-design are in the works. Creativity is only limited by the imagination, so believe, live...feel...
